SNAP Replacement

Automatic Replacement: Assumption, Lafourche, St. Mary, and Terrebonne

  • Automatically receive replacement of 40% of their September benefits if they were issued on or before the September 11 landfall.
  • Replacement benefits will be on  EBT cards by Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
  • Additional Benefits: if recipients in these 4 parishes lost more food than the automatic benefit replacement covers, they can still submit a SNAP 38 form to claim additional benefits.
  • The deadline: Monday, September 30, 2024.

For other parishes: Recipients in other parishes who lost food purchased with SNAP benefits due to power outages of at least 24 hours or other impacts from Hurricane Francine may apply for replacements.

16 Additional Parishes (must apply): Ascension, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John, St. Martin, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington

SNAP Replacement Available outside the 20 parishes

  • replacement benefits for power loss of 24 hours or more.
  • Deadline: Monday, September 23, 2024.
  • SNAP recipients may be asked to provide proof of their power loss.

SNAP Supplements

Automatic SNAP Supplements – 6 Parishes: Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes

  • Recipients who are not already receiving the maximum monthly benefit amount will automatically receive supplemental benefits to bring their households to the maximum for one month.

Apply for Supplemental SNAP – 2 Parishes Only: St. Charles and St. James

  • Hurricane-affected households in St. Charles and St. James parishes may apply for supplemental benefits to bring their households to the maximum for one month.
  • SNAP recipients in St. James and St. Charles parishes must apply using Statement of Disaster Loss (online or download) to receive supplemental benefits.

How to Apply for SNAP Replacements and Supplements:

  1. Online: Complete and submit a SNAP 38 form online at https://www.dcfs.louisiana.gov/form/snap-38-online.
  2. Upload: Scan and upload a completed SNAP 38 form via the CAFÉ system.
  3. Mail or Fax: Send a completed SNAP 38 form to the DCFS Document Processing Center, P.O. Box 260031, Baton Rouge, LA 70826, or fax it to 225-663-3164.
  4. In-Person: If you are unable to submit the form electronically or by mail, deliver it to your nearest DCFS Economic Stability office. Find office locations at www.dcfs.la.gov/offices
  5. By Phone: Call 1-888-LAHELP-U (1-888-524-3578). You will still need to submit your signed SNAP 38 form within 10 days of reporting the loss.
