Cameron era un estudiante de \u00faltimo a\u00f1o de secundaria que so\u00f1aba con inscribirse en LSU y convertirse en el primer graduado universitario de su familia. Mientras sus padres viv\u00edan en Mississippi, Cameron viv\u00eda con su hermanastro de 23 a\u00f1os en un peque\u00f1o apartamento en Covington, LA. Sus padres creyeron que era lo mejor porque ya no pod\u00edan cuidarlo ellos mismos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unos meses antes de que Cameron se mudara a Covington, a su madre le diagnosticaron una enfermedad terminal. Si bien le rompi\u00f3 el coraz\u00f3n ver a Cameron alejarse de su lado, no tuvo m\u00e1s opciones que despedirlo. Su padre tampoco pod\u00eda mantenerlo: hab\u00eda perdido su trabajo, estaba deprimido y comenz\u00f3 a abusar de las drogas. <\/span><\/p>\n

Cuando Cameron se mud\u00f3 a Covington, estaba decidido a tener una vida mejor. Estudi\u00f3 mucho en la escuela y esperaba que sus notas le ayudaran a ser aceptado en la universidad. Quer\u00eda enorgullecer a su madre. <\/span><\/p>\n

Desafortunadamente, la vida en su nuevo hogar no era nada f\u00e1cil. Su hermanastro apenas ganaba lo suficiente para que ambos sobrevivieran. Todos los meses, se ve\u00edan obligados a elegir entre tener una comida caliente para comer o un lugar c\u00e1lido para dormir. Entonces, Cameron decidi\u00f3 que necesitaba conseguir un trabajo. Aunque trabajaba, apenas llegaba a fin de mes y sab\u00eda que nunca podr\u00eda pagar toda la matr\u00edcula universitaria por su cuenta. Se sent\u00eda perdido y no sab\u00eda qu\u00e9 hacer a continuaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

La madre de Cameron lo anim\u00f3 a emanciparse para poder acceder por s\u00ed solo a las cosas que necesitaba. Ella lo anim\u00f3 a buscar ayuda legal. Fue entonces cuando recurri\u00f3 a los Servicios Legales del Sudeste de Luisiana.<\/span><\/p>\n
