Era el d\u00eda de Navidad y cuatro peque\u00f1os pares de ojos observaron aterrorizados c\u00f3mo su padre le apuntaba con una pistola a la cabeza. Lamentablemente, esa no fue la primera vez que el Sr. Brown apunt\u00f3 un arma frente a los ni\u00f1os.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En 2001, la pareja se cas\u00f3 en una zona rural de Luisiana. Los Brown tuvieron cuatro hijos y dos de ellos ten\u00edan necesidades especiales. Para adaptarse a su nuevo estilo de vida, la Sra. Brown decidi\u00f3 dejar su trabajo para poder educar en casa a los dos ni\u00f1os con discapacidades. Entonces comenzaron los abusos. Entre la inestabilidad econ\u00f3mica, la violencia y su preocupaci\u00f3n por el bienestar de sus hijos, la se\u00f1ora Brown no sab\u00eda qu\u00e9 hacer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Desde 2016, la se\u00f1ora Brown fue acosada, empujada al suelo y tirada de los brazos. Ten\u00eda moretones en el cuerpo como si fueran tatuajes. Parec\u00eda que la violencia nunca cesar\u00eda. Luego su marido demand\u00f3 por la custodia de sus hijos. Fue entonces cuando finalmente recurri\u00f3 a un refugio local contra la violencia dom\u00e9stica que brinda servicios a sobrevivientes y luego fue remitida a los Servicios Legales del Sudeste de Luisiana en busca de ayuda. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En la primavera de 2018, un abogado de SLLS intervino para ayudarla y defender sus derechos en los tribunales. Con nuestra ayuda, la Sra. Brown fue aprobada para ser la madre domiciliaria, recibir $1,700 por mes en manutenci\u00f3n infantil y tener acceso tanto a la casa familiar como a la camioneta familiar. Ahora la se\u00f1ora Brown tiene la seguridad que necesita para seguir adelante y proteger a su familia de da\u00f1os futuros.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recientemente, nos enteramos de que est\u00e1 buscando un trabajo nocturno y est\u00e1 ayudando a su hijo mayor a pensar qu\u00e9 hacer despu\u00e9s de graduarse de la escuela secundaria.
