Apply for Services by calling: <strong>1 (844) 244-7871 <\/strong>or online at<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Succession<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The court will give you letters of administration<\/li>\n<li>It has to be filed whether or not the deceased had a will<\/li>\n<li>You will need to keep an accounting of how all the money was spent<\/li>\n<li>You will need the original death certificate (from vital records, see how to below)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>How Do I Open an Estate Account?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To open an estate account, bring to a bank:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>original death certificate; (see instructions below)<\/li>\n<li>social security number;<\/li>\n<li>letters of administration; and<\/li>\n<li>taxpayer identification number (EIN). (see instructions below)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><b>How Do I get a Death Certificate?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>There are three ways you can get a death certificate.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>In person at Vital Records\n<ul>\n<li>Address: The Vital Records Central Office located in New Orleans is open for walk-ins at 1450 Poydras Street, Suite 900, New Orleans from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Payment Method: Walk-in service accepts cash (EXACT AMOUNT), check and money order.<\/li>\n<li>Must Complete an application<\/li>\n<li>Must have a photo ID<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>By Mail (8-10 weeks for delivery)\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Mailing Address: Bureau of Vital Records &amp; Statistics, P.O. Box 60630, New Orleans, LA\u00a0 70160. To get a death certificate by mail, you will need to include:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed Application<\/li>\n<li>Correct Fees: $7.00 + $0.50 for mailing.<\/li>\n<li>Copy of Photo ID<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Through VitalCheck (additional fees)\n<ul>\n<li>Phone: Call VitalChek at 1-877-605-8562<\/li>\n<li>Online: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vitalchek.com\/\">vitalchek.com<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>More information can be found on La.
