{"id":14004,"date":"2024-09-23T18:26:40","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T23:26:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/slls.org\/?p=14004"},"modified":"2024-09-23T18:26:57","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T23:26:57","slug":"francine-supplemental-food-stamps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slls.org\/en\/francine-supplemental-food-stamps\/","title":{"rendered":"Replacement and Supplemental Food Stamps for Survivors of Hurricane Francine"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong><u>SNAP Replacement<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Automatic Replacement:<\/strong> Assumption, Lafourche, St. Mary, and Terrebonne<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Automatically receive replacement of 40% of their September benefits if they were issued on or before the <u>September 11<\/u> landfall.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement benefits will be on\u00a0 EBT cards by Wednesday, September 25, 2024.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Additional Benefits:<\/strong> if recipients in these 4 parishes lost more food than the automatic benefit replacement covers, they can still submit a<strong> SNAP 38 form<\/strong> to claim additional benefits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The deadline<\/strong>: Monday, September 30, 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For other parishes: Recipients in other parishes who lost food purchased with SNAP benefits due to power outages of at least 24 hours or other impacts from Hurricane Francine may apply for replacements.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>16 Additional Parishes (must apply):<\/u><\/strong> Ascension, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John, St. Martin, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deadline to Apply: Monday,<strong> September 30, 2024<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Must submit a <strong>SNAP 38<\/strong> form to request replacement benefits.<strong><a href=\"about:blank\">https:\/\/dcfs.louisiana.gov\/assets\/docs\/searchable\/OFS\/SNAP\/SNAP38_ENG.pdf<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>SNAP Replacement Available outside the 20 parishes<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>replacement benefits for power loss of 24 hours or more.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deadline<\/strong>: Monday, September 23, 2024.<\/li>\n<li>SNAP recipients may be asked to provide proof of their power loss.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><u>SNAP Supplements<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Automatic SNAP Supplements &#8211; 6 Parishes<\/strong>: Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recipients who are <strong><em>not already <\/em><\/strong>receiving the maximum monthly benefit amount will automatically receive supplemental benefits to bring their households to the maximum for one month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apply for Supplemental SNAP &#8211; 2 Parishes Only: St. Charles and St. James<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hurricane-affected households in St. Charles and St. James parishes may apply for supplemental benefits to bring their households to the maximum for one month.<\/li>\n<li>SNAP recipients in St. James and St. Charles parishes must apply using Statement of Disaster Loss (online or download) to receive supplemental benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>How to Apply for SNAP Replacements and Supplements:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Online<\/strong>: Complete and submit a SNAP 38 form online at https:\/\/www.dcfs.louisiana.gov\/form\/snap-38-online.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Upload<\/strong>: Scan and upload a completed SNAP 38 form via the CAF\u00c9 system.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mail or Fax<\/strong>: Send a completed SNAP 38 form to the DCFS Document Processing Center, P.O. Box 260031, Baton Rouge, LA 70826, or fax it to 225-663-3164.<\/li>\n<li><strong>In-Person<\/strong>: If you are unable to submit the form electronically or by mail, deliver it to your nearest DCFS Economic Stability office. Find office locations at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcfs.la.gov\/offices\">www.dcfs.la.gov\/offices<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>By Phone<\/strong>: Call 1-888-LAHELP-U (1-888-524-3578).
