Deputy Director<\/em><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”3_4,1_4″ _builder_version=”4.22.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”3_4″ _builder_version=”4.22.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Roxanne Newman is the Deputy Director of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS). Prior to her new role, she served as the Managing Attorney for Southeast Louisiana Legal Services in Covington, from 2011-2014, and for Family Justice Project, the domestic violence unit of New Orleans Legal Assistance, prior to Hurricane Katrina.<\/p>\n Roxanne has worked with SLLS and New Orleans Legal Assistance since 1999 in the offices in Marrero, New Orleans, Covington and Hammond, where she practiced primarily in the areas of family law and domestic violence. Additionally, her efforts have spanned the following parishes: New Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Tammany and Washington.<\/p>\n Currently, Roxanne serves on the boards of the Pro Bono Project and the Northlake Homeless Coalition. Additionally, she is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the 21st Judicial District Court Bar Association. Previously, Roxanne served as a chair member of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services: Family Practice Area Management group, and the Louisiana State Bar Associations Access to Justice Committee Family Law Task Force.<\/p>\n She has also served as a member of the Mayors Domestic Violence Advisory Committee in New Orleans, the Jefferson Parish Stalking and Harassment Advisory Committee, the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council in St. Tammany Parish and the 22nd Judicial District Court Bar Association.<\/p>\n Roxanne received her Juris Doctorate from Tulane Law School in 1993, and her Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude, in Womens Studies from the State University of New York at Albany in 1990.
