This staff attorney will provide legal representation, advocacy, and community legal education to veterans in the following parishes: Jefferson, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington.
Primary duties are to represent veterans and their families in Social Security cases (disability claims and appeals, retirement, overpayments, cessations, reductions, terminations, and other benefit access issues); VA matters pertaining to pension, overpayments, and debts; housing; wills and power of attorneys; criminal record expungements; and other public benefits, such as Medicaid appeals. In addition, operating the medical-legal partnership (MLP) at the New Orleans VA, Slidell VA clinic, and Hammond VA clinic.

This position is funded through the Bob Woodruff Foundation to help remove barriers to well-being and improve the quality of life for veterans in southeast Louisiana.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed to practice law in Louisiana.
This position will be full-time with a salary range of $54,563 – $90,563, depending on experience. Additional compensation for bilingualism.
