Undergraduate Volunteers
Our interns provide support to our attorneys in multiple areas, such as telephone and in-person contact with clients, contacting administrative agencies to request client documents, conducting research into internal agency rules, copying and filing, drafting correspondence, viewing hearings at local courthouses and attending our various outreach events throughout the community. Hybrid and/or remote positions may be available upon specific requests.

When are Positions Available?
SLLS hosts undergraduate interns every semester and during the summer. We recommend a minimum commitment of eight continuous weeks, full time (37.5 hours weekly) for the summer undergraduate intern position although flexible time commitments will be considered. Spring and Fall semester internships are 10-15 hours weekly.
To apply, send a cover letter and resume to volunteer@slls.org. Please indicate which office and/or unit you are interested in working. See deadlines below for academic semester and summer clerkships:
- Spring Semester – January 15th
- Summer – April 1st
- Fall Semester – September 1st
Qualifications
We do not require undergraduate students to have any qualifications, although a sincere interest in public interest law is welcome. We also have many Spanish-and Vietnamese-speaking clients, so knowledge of a second language is appreciated.
