Gwynne leads our organizations efforts to engage the community in our fight for fairness in the civil justice system. Since 2001, Gwynne has worked for social justice in the nonprofit sector. She raised funding, awareness, and support for a number of agencies, including organizations working to end domestic violence, fighting for the rights of people with disabilities, and supporting artists who give voice to underrepresented communities and experiences.
She also oversees many of our advocacy projects. For nearly 10 years, Gwynne has represented clients in public benefits matters at all levels of administrative adjudication and in federal court.
She previously worked at SLLS as a staff attorney with the Homeless Advocacy Project and then as the managing attorney of the Veterans and Innovative Projects Unit. Her practice focused on helping people who are homeless and working to find solutions to systemic problems to end homelessness in our area. She has collaborated with other organizations and led projects aimed at increasing access to Social Security benefits, food stamps, and health care.
She earned her J.D., cum laude, in 2010 from Chicago-Kent College of Law and her B.A. in 2000 from Grinnell College. She is a member of the LSBA Legal Services for Persons with Disabilities Committee, the LSBA Building Bridges Committee, 504HealthNet’s Access to Care Coalition, the Greater New Orleans Human Trafficking Taskforce Legal Work Group, and the Southeast Public Benefits Advocates Group.
