With a head count of 127 the first-ever Elder Law Boot Camp at the spiffy Olde Towne Slidell senior center was a success. The crowd learned about legal issues cutting across the spectrum of issues affecting older people. Presentation topics ranged from community property, power of attorney, and interdiction to government aid like Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, and VA benefits for veterans.
Speakers included SLLS Website Coordinator Lisa Stansky, who joined Elder Law Task Force Chair Jane Thomas to talk about online help for seniors. SLLS staff attorney Steven Reed's presentation targeted mortgage and consumer issues.
